So much for good intentions, it took me long enough to get this blog started and I only made one entry so far. Well, I am planning on changing that. With the Holidays around the corner and the tragedy in Newtown CT, the last thing on my mind was writing. Here is a brief update since my last post. I started my preliminary training for the Vermont 100K. I have a good base line for distance, but I have to transfer more mileage and time to the trails. I started running more and more through the Blue Hills recently, both road and trails. Holy cow, trails are tough, tougher than I remember. When I was young, my family would go for hikes on the Blue Hill trails. The skyline trail was always fun. Try running it maintaining at least a 9min speed, not easy. The days we take on the trails I am always humbled.
Recently, New England had a bout of warm weather so I was able to take my little one out on the road in the runner. I have to admit it makes me smile when I see the happiness in her eyes the moment I unfold it. I can’t wait for consistently good weather again. Today I was a bit of a wimp, it was windy so I treadmilled it. Yes, I admit it was a wussy thing to do. A fun 10.3 mi. on the machine.
I was thinking about signing up for the Hyannis Marathon next month for fun. Nothing sounds better than ocean front icy roads on the Cape in February… Wouldn’t you agree?
